Canada Permanent Resident - Global Admissions

New Brunswick – Pilot Programme To Help Students Become Canadian Permanent Residents

Starting April 1, 2022, international students who graduate from one of four long-standing New Brunswick private career colleges, and who have studied in one of 19 identified occupations, will be able to apply to the Provincial Nominee Program, allowing them to work and live in the province while they wait for permanent residency.

The participating institutions are:

  • Atlantic Business College;
  • Eastern College;
  • McKenzie College; and
  • Oulton College.

This stream will be accessible to new graduates from the designated institutions who are not currently eligible for the federal Post-Graduation Work Permit program. This stream will limit participation to New Brunswick Designated Learning Institutions that have held this designation for at least five years and that offer eligible programs of study in education and social development, health care, information technology, and cyber security, business administration, and supply chain and logistics. Other streams are available for international students graduating from publicly-funded New Brunswick post-secondary institutions.

Targeted occupations for this pilot include:

  • social and community service workers;
  • early childhood educators and assistants;
  • educational assistants;
  • health-care aides;
  • home support workers;
  • licensed practical nurses;
  • paramedics and related occupations;
  • medical laboratory technologists;
  • medical laboratory technicians and pathologists’ assistants;
  • medical administrative assistants;
  • computer programmers and interactive media developers;
  • web designers and developers;
  • computer network technicians;
  • user support technicians;
  • accounting technicians and bookkeepers;
  • payroll clerks;
  • shippers and receivers;
  • supply chain and logistics supervisors; and
  • production logistics coordinators.

More specific requirements and criteria will be made available this fall at www.welcomenb.ca.

THE World University Ranking 2022

THE – World University Rankings 2022: Results Announced

The Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2022 has been Announced.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 include more than 1,600 universities across 99 countries and territories, making them the largest and most diverse university rankings to date.

Universities that have published medical sciences research relating to Covid-19 have seen a significant boost in their citation impact, according to the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings, but it is unclear whether the pandemic will reshape or entrench existing hierarchies in global higher education.

Analysis by THE’s data team identified that 19 institutions saw a notable rise in their citation impact score between the 2021 and 2022 editions of the ranking after publishing medical papers relating to Covid-19. Eleven of these institutions are in mainland China, while one is in Taiwan and another is in Hong Kong. As a result, mainland China now has the joint fifth-highest number of institutions in the top 200 (10, up from seven last year), overtaking Canada and on a par with the Netherlands.
